Southfield-based Beyond Basics celebrated successfully tutoring children through a pandemic school year at its annual event, “Coming Together for Children,” June 23, at the Detroit Athletic Club.

Despite a challenging year, Beyond Basics has worked with students, teachers, principals and families to help struggling readers to achieve proficiency to access their education and pursue their dreams after pivoting to online one-on-one tutoring.
