Our experience shows, the teachers are the heroes in the educational system that gets rolled out in poverty. Most already know that the teachers have large class sizes and lack of resources.
The American Educational System is a great one. Unfortunately, it is rolled out at the social and economic level of the community it serves.
When 23rd District Court Judge Geno Salomone dreamed of bringing every pupil in the Taylor Public Schools up to standard reading levels by the third-grade, he dreamed big. His dream resulted in the creation, in 2011, of the Taylor Reading Corps.
Beyond Basics is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to delivery of student-centered pre K-12 reading and literacy-enrichment programs. We get children reading at grade level in six weeks.
Beyond Basics is a metro-Detroit-based free literacy program that incorporates one-on-one reading coaches, book clubs, tutoring and reading buddies to bring underperforming students up to grade level.
