Longitudinal Study
We are delighted to share with you the results of a longitudinal study that validates our literacy work. Dietz Consulting has tracked the success of our work serving 3,553 students in K-12 school districts since 2008. The results show that there is a solution to achieve literacy for everyone!
Blue-Ribbon State Pilot (2022-2025)
The Blue-Ribbon State Pilot was a state-funded initiative that allowed Beyond Basics to scale its evidence-based literacy model across three geographically distinct regions in Michigan. Through this pilot, we delivered more than 3,000 student tutoring cycles to students in grades K–12, providing consistent, one-on-one, phonics-based instruction delivered with fidelity and accountability.
Longitudinal Report (2008-2022)
Third-Party Validation
Beyond Basics’ longitudinal report, conducted by Dietz Consulting, examines outcomes for 3,553 students served across K–12 school districts since 2008. The analysis tracks student progress over time and demonstrates that sustained, one-on-one, phonics-based intervention produces measurable gains in reading proficiency across grade levels in a matter of weeks.
Wayne State University Report (2015)
Third-Party Validation
An evaluation conducted by Wayne State University researchers Dr. D. Carl Freeman and Dr. Hilary Horn Ratner found that students receiving Beyond Basics’ one-on-one literacy intervention made statistically significant gains across core reading skills in just six weeks, outperforming peers who did not receive tutoring.
